Electrospray ionization (positive and negative modes) high-energy dissociation mass spectra of icariin, the active substance of Epimedium, were studied. The interpretation of the spectra was presented. The optimal instrumental and mass spectra identification para meters of icariin were defined (the collision energy – 40 V, in the positive mode – m/z 677.2433 ® 313.0703, 369.1330; in the negative mode – m/z 675.2288 ® 352.0952, 367.1185, 323.0925). Structure of icariin isolated from plant material with the aid of semipreparative liquid chromatography was confirmed by 1H and 13C NMR spectra.
